BRITBIZ BUSINESS START UP FUND

Our mission is to bring Brits, American Britophiles, and their network of friends and family together to support British-themed and British-owned businesses as they take root, grow, and thrive in the United States, with a special initial focus on new businesses across the Pacific Northwest. The main investment of the fund will be in funding education and training needs of the management and staff when no other help is available. The business will be in the small business size with 10 employees or less at the time of funding and capital investment for the startup of less than $100,000.

Even though we do not aim to make a profit, unless for reinvestment, our aim is not to make a loss on supporting our fundraising, event, and Membership activities. A direct contribution into this fund makes the chances of loss much lower. Your pledge of money or item sales assist us in hiring event venues, supporting our competitions, and help with travel expenses across the region. It also aids expenses for research and volunteer benefits such as free rewards points to spend at our gift store. The Operational Fund also receives support from our business sponsors who kindly donate funds for the above. However, there support is used for our administrative overheads such as funding the costs of website hosting, customized software, and business subscriptions.

The more in the pot for this fund the more we are able to provide funds to British themed events and Organizers, often independent of Britevents. In 2025 we supported a Beatles tribute event in Portland, a Pie and Pasty party in Bellevue as well as Christmas parties in Beaverton and Seattle.

TRANSATLANTIC SCHOOL TWINNING FUND

Our mission is to build a lasting charitable partnership between schools in the United States and the United Kingdom, enabling young people to learn with and from one another through shared values, active citizenship, and meaningful fundraising for communities in need.

Through school twinning, we aim to strengthen understanding across cultures, encourage pupils to see themselves as responsible global citizens, and create opportunities for students, teachers, and families to share information, experiences, ideas, and practical skills.
